New Windows 10 Update deletes users files after installed. Do not download!
Warnings about the new Windows 10 update for October 2018 has been posted everywhere online. The Windows 10 update reportedly deletes all the users personal files after the user installs the update. Microsoft removed the update from their download site to prevent this from happening.
Windows has also stopped the update from reaching users with the auto update feature.
Reportedly, the update removes all the files from the users Documents folder. So you you’re missing all your files in your Documents folder, you might have been affected by the update already.
“We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating,” said Microsoft.
Microsoft also urged Windows 10 users to cancel any pending updates on their computers.
You can cancel the updates on Windows 10 by following these instructions:
In Windows 10 Pro, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and set up the update deferral.
Or under Update & Security you can disable automatic updates for now until Microsoft has fixed the problem.
