A day at Park Acoustics with Fokofpolisiekar and other acts like Flint Meet Spark and Late Night Fox
“Francois, how was your experience at Park Acoustics this Sunday? It was great and super burning hot!”
We actually went a bit later than planned but we got there at around 10:50. By the time we got to the gate there was already a queue and loads of people waiting to get in. Luckily the city of Tswane organised busses to take people up to Fort Schanskop where Park Acoustics are being held each Sunday. They also have another venue for Park Acoustics which is definitely bigger. I have no idea why they used Fort Schanskop when they were expecting so many people and after all tickets were apparently sold out online. I don’t want to sound like a Moaning Myrtle but there’s a huge tree in the middle so the people sitting on the steps around the stage can’t see anything and there’s not enough space for so many people. You should know by now that when Fokofpolisiekar plays, you need to make sure there’s enough space. I have to say that the service at the bar was quite quick considering the amount of people.

The just caught the first band playing called Flint Meet Spark when we managed to find a spot to sit. It was just after 11am and everything was full already. Luckily the people that was sitting behind us had a massive tent sail covering them so I knew that when the sun comes over, we will be covered by their sail.
Jack Daniels is always one of the big sponsors of the event so they had these Jack Daniels girls walking all over the place selling shots of Jack Daniels. Maybe I should have taken one and then I wouldn’t have felt the heat. Here’s a nice pic of some of the Jack Daniels girls.
The next band in the line-up was Late Night Fox and they sure know how to create a vibe. This is the first time I’ve heard of them and although it’s not my favorite type of music, they were pretty good. I quite like their song called Handicap diplomat. It’s got a nice groove to it. It almost sounds like a song that can be featured on True Blood or something.

As you can see on this pic it’s fully packed under that tree in the middle in front of the stage. You need to get there super early if you want to get some shade in the burning sun. Also the view is obviously a lot better than what it is on the steps at the back.
There was also a couple of Birthdays but this one guy got a birthday cake at the show and everybody sang for him.
And finally the band everybody came for. Fokofpolisiekar. Their show was amazing as usual and instantly formed a standing crowd in front of the stage as soon as they came on. There’s only one band in SA that I know of who’s got a stage presence like this. Here’s a photo and a really bad quality video I took with my camera. Don’t judge me.
