Top 10 must have and coolest apps for your iPad

I got an iPad for Christmas and thought I would make a list of the top 10 apps which I think is a must have.

AVPlayerHD

1. AVPlayerHD

AVPlayerHD is the most awesome iPad app ever. You cant watch .AVI or .MKV movies just by dragging them to the movies folder in iTunes because your native iPad OS doesn’t support these file types. So after a long search I found this GREAT AWESOME app which is the most used app on my iPad. This app plays any video file you can think of. So no need to convert any video files. The only thing I don’t like (which is Apple’s fault) is that you can just drag movies to your iPad using any computer. As you know Apple decided it would be a good idea to force users to use iTunes when wanting to do anything on their iPad. So if you want to put a movie onto your iPad, you need to plug it in and open iTunes, click on your iPad and at the top click on Apps. Then scroll right to the bottom and choose AVPlayerHD. Then you can drag your movies into the small screen on the right. It at least copies really quick so that’s good. The other option is to copy over WiFi where your iPad gives you an IP address which takes forever. But you don’t need iTunes for that.

Draw Something

2. Draw something

Draw Something is pretty awesome. It’s basically like Pictionary where the app gives you a choice of three words and then you need to draw a picture best describing that word and then the other person needs to guess the word correctly.

You also log in with your Facebook account or email and then you can invite people to play against you. If you log in with your Facebook account, the app will show which of your friends are already playing, and then you can just start a game with them.

AmpliTube on iTunes

3. AmpliTube

This is a great app for guitar players if you want to practice on the go. You don’t need an amp. You just need your iPad, Guitar and some headphones. AmpliTube has a great selection of amps, heads and effects pedals to play with. It also has a built in tuner and you can also do multi-track recording for when you come up with a great riff and don’t want to forget it.

Paper by FiftyThree

This is also a great drawing app. It’s much smoother than other drawing apps I’ve seen and you can also use/buy different brushes and colors. What I also like about this app is that you can create different books/folders and then just make random drawings and save them. So check it out. It’s pretty awesome.

iBooks

5. iBooks

Store all your books in one place. Epub books are so small and with a 16GB iPad you can store thousands of books. The great thing about iBooks is that it has a built in dictionary. So while you’re reading, you can hold your finger on a work and then you can either get the meaning of it, search it on the internet or makes notes on that word. You can also place bookmarks on any page and do a search in the book if you want to read something again.

Gmail for iPad

6. Gmail

Gmail is basically so that you can read and send your Gmail emails from your iPad. It imports your signatures used on your online Gmail account and it gives you the option to send from different email addresses if you have set it up that way on your online account. This app also doesn’t store anything on your iPad and also only downloads the email subject and “From” name. So it used minimal data.

Wordpress

7. Wordpress

The WordPress iPad app is a great way to update your blog on the go. You can write and edit posts, upload photos, moderate comments and many other features. The post editor is in text so you can also write some HTML if want to. The app is also great for the iPhone which has all the same features as the iPad app.

IMDB

8. IMDB

If you quickly want to find out what the latest movies are or what’s the best movie to watch at the moment, you can go onto IMDB on your iPad and get that info. This app is very quick and doesn’t use much bandwidth. You can also view movie trailers using this app.

Skype for iPad

9. Skype

Your iPad has a built in camera so now you can use it to make video calls from anywhere. You can also use Facebook which is just between Apple products but obviously with Skype you can talk to anyone who has Skype installed. So it’s pretty cool if you want to quickly run out of the office but still want to chat to your Skype contacts.

TuneIn Radio

10. Tunein Radio

I’ve downloaded TuneIn Radio so that I can listed to Kerrang. It’s basically to listen to radio stations over the internet so you will need an internet connection using WiFi or have an iPad with a 3G card. I’m not sure how much data this uses so if anyone knows, please add it in a comment below.
