Takealot online ordering review and what happens when you return something
Takealot is a well-known household name. Like Handy Andy or Domestos. And I have used them a lot over the years to order things online and got it delivered to my house or work.
I’ve never really had any major problems with them and the delivery is normally quicker than what they display on the website.
Last week 8 March 2017 I ordered a Microwave online. It was a 20 liter Russel Hobbs microwave which was on special and marked off from R1300 to R860. I ordered it at around 8 pm that night. The next day I realised after doing some research about the microwave, that 20 liters are pretty small. I thought all microwaves were the same size.
In my Takealot account under My Orders -> Tracking, it said it was still at the warehouse so I canceled the order hoping to get credit on my account and then order a bigger microwave.
So after lodging a return/cancellation, I waited a week for anything to happen. And upon trying to look for answers or to contact Takealot, I found that they don’t have any contact details on their website. There’s no phone number, email address or contact form.
So the only way to contact them is through Facebook or Twitter. So after waiting a day, they responded to my message on Facebook where they said that their warehouse is waiting for the item to be received and inspected so that they can process my credit.
A week later on the 15th of March, I received my credit. And this was while the item was still in their warehouse. So I’m not sure how long it would take for them to process a return when the item needs to be sent back to them.
Other than that, I’m quite happy with their service, but make sure you order the right thing when you place your order online.
