The annual SAAF Museum Air Show has been scheduled and has been approved to take place on 10 May 2014.  This Air Show has proved to be a favourite on the annual Air Show calendar and has been awarded the Best South African Air Show for 2011, 2012 and third position in 2013, by the Aero Club of South Africa.  The 2014 Air Show is scheduled to take place on 10 May 2014.  The Air Show is known to attract up to 35 000 spectators and is a not to miss event for aviation enthusiasts.  We present a family atmosphere and costs are therefore kept affordable to promote attendance. The Museum Air Show remains the favoured event to attend and we are fortunate that most of the pilots and local airlines that participate in the annual Air Show attend and display their aircraft at no cost to the Museum.  We have a strong contingent of present serving SAAF aircraft featuring in our Air Show programme.  For info and participation please contact the Museum onThis email address is being protected from spambots. Hi. I'm currently 31 years old and I'm a full time Front-End Web Developer. I love cats and I love life.... sometimes. I created this blog when I was figuring out how Wordpress works and it eventually started to get a whole lot of traffic. I'm now trying to help fellow South Africans with general how to stuff for example how to renew your car license disc and also reviews like restaurants etc. I haven't done much yet but I will soon start to do more and more. I will try to write as many blog posts as I can. I hope you enjoy this blog and don't forget to leave a comment. Oh and you're welcome to write a guest post or review. What day is the airshow. Some sites have it as a Sunday, others have it as a Saturday.

    Just need to confirm.

    Kind regards

      Hello Nigel,

The Airshow is this Saturday the 10th of May 2014.

  2. Juanita May 5, 2014 at 10:44 am

I’ll be there this weekend, can’t wait, thinks it’s going to be great!!!!

    1. Francois May 5, 2014 at 10:46 am

I also can’t wait. I’m finally going to use my 300mm camera lens what I bought it for.

      1. Juanita May 5, 2014 at 11:45 am

        Oh ok that’s nice.

  3. Anne May 5, 2014 at 3:06 pm

Is there anywhere we can book the tickets online?

    1. Francois May 5, 2014 at 3:09 pm

      Hi Anne,

Unfortunately not. I did email the organisers but they said you can only buy the tickets during the week at the Museum or at the gates on Saturday 10 May.

I think they should have made tickets available with Web Tickets or Computicket. It would have made the queue much faster.

Does anyone know whether there will be a shuttle/bus service from the Gautrain Centurion station to the Airshow?

Also, does getting tickets in advance still mean you have to stand in a long queue up to the gates anyway?

    1. Francois May 6, 2014 at 3:59 pm

Hi Coenraad, there is a shuttle bus driving to and from Swartkops.

You can buy tickets at the admin office at Swartkops but you will still need to stand in the queue.

You will need to go really early. As in sleep in your sleeping bag in front of the gate. Or do what Mr. Bean did –

  5. Coenraad May 6, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Thanks for the quick reply Francois! I just don’t want to go to Centurion station only to be stranded there – Any idea how much the cost would for the shuttle?

    1. Francois May 7, 2014 at 12:27 am

Hi Coenraad, unfortunately I’m not sure how much it costs but it can’t be that much.

    2. moloko May 9, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Tickets cost R50, children under 12 its for free

  6. Hugo May 7, 2014 at 12:30 pm

I read on the Gautrain website that the Bus service does not operate on weekends, so i phoned the Gautrain offices where someone told me that they are not aware of any Gautrain Bus service shuttle to Swartkops on 10 May 2014.

    Can someone please clarify this?

    1. Francois May 7, 2014 at 10:12 pm

I actually read this on the official website which is now suspended (weird). I will find out tomorrow.

        Hello Smita,

Yes a person called Eric commented here saying he got a pamphlet on his car windscreen, the bottom has the Gautrain logo, and says: “Catch a Gautrain bus from Centurion Station”.

    1. Francois May 8, 2014 at 1:41 pm

      Hey Connie,

I’m not sure where you would find that. Maybe if you email Lt.Col Mike O’Connor on the email in the post above.

  10. Riaan May 8, 2014 at 2:04 pm

    Hi Guys

I work on the gautrain and emailed the persons in charge of the busses for the Gautrain. The busses will be running from and to centurion station between 06:00 and 18:00.

Hope this helps. See you all there

hi Francois, i am bringing my kids but my son only gets off his soccer match at 2pm. if we are there by 230 what displays will be left? is it worth it to come mid afternoon? is there a schedule of events.
    tx a ton

    1. Francois May 9, 2014 at 12:24 am

There should still be plenty to see. I’m not sure what the program is and not sure what time it ends.

  12. Chris May 8, 2014 at 7:57 pm

Is the airshow only saterday or is it saterday or sunday? As shown on all the saaf websites??

    1. Francois May 9, 2014 at 12:23 am

      Hi. It’s only Saturday.

  13. elfrieda May 8, 2014 at 9:17 pm

My we bring a cooler bag with something to eat and drink.

  14. Alet de Kock May 9, 2014 at 11:14 am

    Hi Francois
I have the same question as Connie…. “where can we get a program”? Lt. Col Mike O’Connor’s phone number does only rings. The e-mail is coming back undelivered. We have family that’s coming from far, and would it be much lenient to know what is happening when, to plan the day according to the interests. In this modern world why not putting the program on the website?

    1. Francois May 9, 2014 at 11:21 am

      Hi Alet,

Unfortunately I’m not involved in the organising of this event. I only wrote this post on my blog as I’m a big fan of the air show.

I have no idea where to get the program from as I see the official website is now offline?

Those are the only details I have. Maybe try another number at the SAAF Museum. And if you get the program, please post it here or comment it and I will add it to the main post.

  15. ami May 9, 2014 at 11:48 am
