I’m doing photography as a hobby and I need some tips to be a better photographer
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this anywhere on the site but I do photography as a hobby. Well I try to. I’m not very good at it but what I did now is I’ve added a new link in the main top menu called “Photography”. I’m going to try and take one photo a day or at least one nice photo a week and then post it there. So if you guys could comment on it and give me some tips or just even say it looks shit or it looks good. That would be awesome.
I’ve got a Nikon D3100 which is an entry level camera …I know. But at least it’s something. The only thing I need now is a tripod and more lenses. I’ve only got the lens it came which is the 18~55mm lens. I like to photograph airplanes so one day I would like to get a 300mm lens and also a macro and wide angle lens for landscapes etc.
But all in good time hey. My camera is at home and I haven’t taken one photo this week yet. It’s hard when you work all day and when you’re busy on weekends. If you want good photos you need to actually go out to places with nice views or interesting subjects to photograph.
I’m still figuring out my camera. When to adjust the aperture and shutter speeds and how the light metre works.
I know this so far:
Aperture = It’s the opening of the hole in the lens. This determines how much light goes into the lens/camera. The lower the aperture, the bigger the opening. So at night you’’ have the aperture set at 3.5 for example.
Shutter speed = You’ll set the shutter speed fast during the day or when using a flash. And slow during night photography when not using a flash. And then you’ll need a tripod as well otherwise everything will blur if you don’t hold the camera still.
Then the ISO you can adjust. ISO100 for day photography and at night you should keep it as low as possible otherwise the higher your ISO, the more grain in your photos.
Please comment with some more tips.
