Flight BA6234 crash landed at OR Tambo Airport after landing gear collapsed

British Airways Plane Crash Lands at OR Tambo Airport from PE to Johannesburg

A British Airways plane crashed at OR Tambo International Airport today after the landing gear snapped and the plane crash landed and slid across the runway. The jet engine on the left of the plane caught fire while the plane was coming to a standstill. Flight BA6234 was stranded on the runway and resulted in other flights having a 30 minute delay.

The plane departed from Port Elizabeth and landed at OR Tambo at 12pm on 26 October 2015. There were 94 passengers on board.

Luckily no one was injured and everyone got off the plane safely. One passenger on the plane, Warren Mann, took the photo below just as he got off the plane.

“Comair and the authorities will conduct an investigation in the next few days to find out what might have caused the accident.”
